These Terms & Conditions govern the use of the Darwin Lake Holiday Village website and the booking of accommodation, weddings, events, and related services (“Services”) offered by Darwin Lake Holiday Village, Jaggers Lane, Darley Moor, Matlock, Derbyshire DE4 5LH (“we”, “us”, “our”). By using our website or completing a booking, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

1. General Information

Darwin Lake Holiday Village provides self-catering accommodation, exclusive-use event hire, wedding packages, and associated services within our private lakeside estate. All bookings are accepted in accordance with these Terms & Conditions.

2. Booking & Payment

2.1 How to Book

Bookings may be made via our website, email, or by contacting our reservations team. A provisional booking can be held for up to 7 days.

2.2 Deposits & Balance Payments

Accommodation bookings require a 30% deposit upon booking.
The remaining balance is due 8 weeks before arrival.
Wedding and event bookings follow a tailored payment schedule agreed at booking.

Failure to pay may result in cancellation and loss of deposit.

2.3 Security Deposits

A refundable damage deposit may be requested. This is returned after inspection of the property.

3. Cancellations & Refunds

3.1 Cancellations by Guests

All cancellations must be made in writing.
Deposits are non-refundable.
Cancellations within 8 weeks of arrival require full payment unless re-let.

We strongly recommend adequate travel or event insurance.

3.2 Cancellations by Darwin Lake

If we must cancel or amend your booking due to unforeseen circumstances, we will offer:

A full refund, or
Alternative dates or equivalent accommodation.

4. Check-In & Check-Out

Check-in: From 4:00 pm
Check-out: By 10:00 am

Early check-in/late check-out may be arranged. Please leave the property clean and tidy.

5. Use of Accommodation & Venue

Only named guests may occupy the property.
Maximum occupancy limits must not be exceeded.
Lead guests are responsible for group behaviour.
Please keep noise to a minimum after 11 pm.
No smoking or vaping inside any building.
Candles, fireworks, and sky lanterns require written approval.

We may terminate a stay without refund for serious breaches.

6. Pets

Dogs are welcome in designated cottages by prior arrangement. They must be supervised, controlled, and not left alone. Additional cleaning charges may apply.

7. Weddings & Events

Weddings and events operate under individual contracts, including:

Final details required 6 weeks before the event.
Third-party suppliers must have valid insurance.
Events may run until 12 am (midweek) or 1 am (Fri/Sat).
Clients are responsible for guest and supplier behaviour.
All décor must be removed after the event unless arranged otherwise.

8. Health, Safety & Liability

Guests must act responsibly. Children must be supervised near water and woodland areas. We are not responsible for:

Loss or damage to personal belongings
Injury or illness due to misuse of facilities
Weather or events beyond our control

Outdoor activities by Peak Adventures operate under separate safety procedures.

9. Damage & Loss

Damage, breakages, or missing items must be reported. Costs may be charged if repairs or excessive cleaning are required.

10. Internet & Utilities

Wi-Fi is available but speeds may vary due to the rural location. Power or service interruptions outside our control cannot be guaranteed.

11. Data Protection

Personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Force Majeure

We cannot be held responsible for delays, cancellations, or service issues due to events beyond our control, including extreme weather, natural disasters, pandemics, or utility failures.

13. Complaints

Please notify us immediately of any issue so we can assist. Post-departure complaints will be reviewed.

14. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by English law. Any disputes shall fall under the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
