How to Find Us
We’re located just off the B5057, close to Matlock and Bakewell, within easy reach of Derby, Sheffield, and Nottingham. For satellite navigation, please use postcode DE4 5LH, and follow the brown tourism signs for Darwin Lake Holiday Village.
Free on-site parking is available for all guests.
Directions from Matlock
At the roundabout in Matlock, take the A6 signposted Buxton / Manchester. Continue along this road for just over 2 miles, then turn right onto the B5057, signposted Chesterfield and Two Dales.
Continue on this road for approximately 2 miles (it’s quite steep and twisty in parts). Watch for a small crossroads and turn right onto Jaggers Lane.
If you reach Darwin Forest Country Park on the left, you’ve gone too far.
Darwin Lake is situated 200 yards on the left.
Directions from Chesterfield
Leave Chesterfield on the A632 towards Matlock. After roughly 4 miles, turn right onto the B5057 towards Two Dales. Continue for around 3 miles — this road is quite straight in parts — passing Darwin Forest Country Park on your right.
At the first small crossroads after Darwin Forest, turn left onto Jaggers Lane, signposted Farley and Hackney.
If you start descending down Sydnope Hill, you’ve gone too far.
Darwin Lake is situated 200 yards down Jaggers Lane on the left.
Directions from Bakewell
Leave Bakewell on the A6 towards Matlock. You’ll travel through Rowsley, passing the Grouse & Claret Pub on your left, and continue into Darley Dale (around 6 miles in total).
In Darley Dale, turn left onto the B5057, signposted Two Dales and Chesterfield. You’ll see the Royal Bank of Scotland and a chemist directly in front of you.
Stay on this road (it’s all uphill, twisty and narrow in parts) for about 2 miles until you reach the top of the hill. Soon after, you’ll see a small crossroads — turn right onto Jaggers Lane, signposted Farley and Hackney.
Darwin Lake is situated 200 yards down Jaggers Lane on the left.
Travelling by Train
The nearest train station is Matlock Station, just 10 minutes away by car.
Regular services connect from Derby, Nottingham and Sheffield, with taxi services available at the station. We can recommend local drivers on request.
